This pool is most remarkable because it is unremarkable. There is almost nothing to fish in the pool save and except the sparse shoreline cover. Because this cover is sparse it will sometimes produce fish when nothing else will work.

Dam #52 (Mile 938.9)

The front of the dam, off to the side of course, will sometimes hold drift and weeds.

The tailrace waters below the dam will produce bass, hybrids, and stripers at times.

Dam #53 (Mile 962.6)

This area of the Ohio River is best characterized by large, expansive flats covered with snags and grass.

It produces the largest largemouth bass in the River, though not the best numbers.

The flatheads taken from the channels along these flats are some of the largest in North America. Each year produces several above 75 pounds. This stretch of the Ohio River may be, without exaggeration, a likely spot for the next record—be it state or national.
